We welcome responsible canoeists will enjoy the river and countryside, leaving it as they found it; treating wildlife and other river users with respect.

If you are not sure about your ability for unaccompanied canoe hire; we offer Guided Tours and a 'River Awareness' Day. We can also arrange skills training courses at various levels from beginner to open and white-water.

River Awareness Day

A river awareness day would be useful for anyone interested in canoe/kayak hire who would like some basic tuition first; or anyone who has recently bought their first canoe/touring kayak or is thinking of doing so.

After a short session making sure you can move your Open Canoe or Touring Kayak forwards, backwards, sideways and stop; we spend the rest of the day travelling a short section of the river, looking at typical river features and strategies for safe river paddling.

NB - river awareness days do NOT cover 'shooting' white-water, weirs, or skills needed for paddling closed-cockpit kayaks. If you would like a course covering these aspects, please 'phone us to discuss your requirements.

All year by arrangement -
