Multi-Activity

Holiday

A week of fun and adventure for all the family with something for everyone! The activities are pitched at a level suitable for even small children or not-so-active mums and dads, but we can still find a challenge for the more intrepid members of your family! All this along with the stunning scenery of The Brecon Beacons National Park makes this a holiday to remember.

Based at the award-winning Pencelli Castle caravan and camping-site, our Family Multi-activity Holidays are designed for those who wish to try a range of activities, and gain the basic skills needed to take up one or more of these activities after the holiday. No outdoor experience is needed, but you will need a basic level of fitness, lots of warm clothing, windproof and waterproofs, stout footwear and a sense of humour!

Sample Programme

(the exact programme is flexible to take advantage of conditions).

Climbing and Abseiling. Using the security of a top-rope system, beginners can quickly get to grips with moving around on the rock face and trying out various methods of safeguarding their climbing partners. Abseiling is introduced as a fun activity in itself as well as being part of the wider climbing skills.

Canoe and/or Kayak Trip. An excellent day out and ideal for beginners and those with a little more experience alike, we use open canoes and/or touring kayaks for a self-sufficient day's exploration. After a short lesson on the basic paddling strokes we set off, taking a river bank picnic on the way. No capsize drills are needed for these open craft, and even nervous beginners can rapidly progress to be able to complete the trip.

Caving. The underground experience is special and South Wales has some of the best and most easily accessible caves in the country. A typical caving trip is an adventurous journey exploring large caverns, tight squeezes, submerged streams and wonderful formations.

Bike or Hike. Whether you wish to run over rough mountain terrain or amble along woodland tracks, wayfaring is an ideal introduction to map and compass skills and a great way to learn the rudiments of navigation. Or we may do it by bike!

River Gorge Adventure "You don't have to be mad but..." Scramble, abseil, slide, wade and swim, as you journey along a river gorge. You can be assured of a fun, memorable day.

Our Canoe Camping Tour on the River Wye is also popular with families.
